Kelly Tibbetts

I have been working with people for my entire life. I started working in the mental health field over 20 years ago. I became a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in 2019 after discovering my passion for helping people feel better and empowering them to improve their lives by improving their overall mental health.
I have adapted a systemic approach to therapy, recognizing the importance of understanding the culture, systems, and relationships that shape people’s lives and challenges. I am dedicated to creating a non-judgmental, warm, and supportive environment in therapy, offering empathy, collaboration, and authenticity. I strive to help clients identify their internal and external resilience and strengths while teaching tools to cope with stress and improve connections. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), narrative, and solution-focused techniques. I aim to help clients develop more adaptive habits that lead to meaningful and fulfilling lives. I have experience working with couples, families, and individuals facing relational issues, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

My journey as an advocate for positive social change began during my undergraduate studies, where I immersed myself in dual degrees in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies. As a proud member of the LGBTQ community, I have firsthand experience navigating the unique challenges and triumphs that come with embracing one’s authentic identity. Fueled by a passion for activism and advocacy, I transitioned into the field of social work, driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have been marginalized and oppressed.
Through my graduate studies at St. Catherine University, I deepened my understanding of trauma and oppression and honed my skills in providing compassionate care. I am deeply committed to continuing my education and professional development to better serve my clients and advocate for lasting social change. Together, let us work towards a future where all individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and equity, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
I understand that finding the right therapist can be a daunting process, and I am here to support you every step of the way. My approach is collaborative, transparent, and non-judgmental, and I am committed to creating a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and respect. Together, we can work towards overcoming obstacles, building resilience, and creating a more fulfilling life. I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey towards healing and growth.
